René De Knyff

René de Knyff was born on December 10th, 1865, in Antwerp (Belgium). Between 1897 and 1903 he took part in a number of major races, of which he was able to win at least five He competed in all races on Panhard Levasseur automobiles, whose board of directors included de Knyff. The 1903 Gordon Bennett race was his last race. He then devoted himself entirely to his role as President of the Commission Sportive of the Automobile Club de France and later of the Commission Sportive International. He lived most of his life in France and in 1914 he became a French citizen. He died in France in 1954 at the age of 90.
